Meet “Jasper,” an extraordinary 7" Shusui Butterfly Koi with a darker appearance than the traditional blue Shusui commonly seen.
What immediately sets Jasper apart is the dramatically dark dorsal coloration. Instead of the typical lighter blue-gray scaling, the prominent scales running along the back appear deep charcoal to nearly black, creating a bold armored look from head to tail.
Warm red-orange accents along the sides provide just enough color to contrast with the dark center of the body, while the largely scaleless Doitsu skin allows each element of the pattern to stand out clearly.
Jasper also has beautiful Butterfly finnage, including long pectoral fins and an exceptionally flowing tail that adds graceful movement to his darker, more dramatic appearance.
Shusui are traditionally recognized for their blue coloration and distinctive dorsal scales, making a specimen with such pronounced black coloration especially unusual and eye-catching.
