This 12" Shusui Koi has a darker, dramatic interpretation of the classic Shusui look, combining a cool blue-gray body with vivid red-orange hi and pronounced charcoal dorsal scales.
The defining feature is the heavy line of large Doitsu scales running down the back. Their smoky charcoal-to-black coloration creates a bold zipper-like pattern from behind the head toward the tail.
Rich red-orange markings run along both sides of the body, providing a striking contrast against the cooler blue-gray ground. Darker pigmentation around the head and dorsal area gives this individual even more depth and character.
Because Shusui are largely scaleless, each element of the pattern stands out clearly—the smooth skin, intense side color and oversized dorsal scales all contribute to this koi's distinctive appearance.
At 12 inches, this Shusui already has excellent pond presence and would be especially appealing to someone who prefers darker, more dramatic Shusui over the lighter traditional examples.
