Meet “Chester,” a 7.5" Doitsu Kin Matsuba Butterfly Koi with rich metallic coloration, dramatic scaling and beautiful longfin movement.
Chester displays a warm bronze-gold to coppery metallic body that catches the light beautifully. What really makes him unusual is the Doitsu scaling. A prominent row of large, dark-centered scales runs along the back, creating a bold Matsuba-inspired pinecone effect against the glowing metallic ground.
Toward the shoulders, several larger dark scales create an almost armor-like appearance, adding even more character to this already distinctive koi.
And then there are the fins. Chester has exceptionally long Butterfly finnage, with sweeping pectorals and an impressive flowing tail. Warm golden-orange coloration carries into the fins, while their lighter edges create striking contrast as he moves through the water.
The combination of metallic gold, dark Doitsu scaling and dramatic Butterfly fins makes Chester anything but an ordinary yellow or gold koi.
Chester was bred and raised at Kloubec Koi Farm in Amana, Iowa—we never import koi for resale.
