This unusual 12.5" Beni Kumonryu Koi has a dramatic, almost smoky metallic-looking appearance, with layers of silver-gray, charcoal black, and warm orange-red beni creating a truly distinctive look.
The body is dominated by cool silver and slate-gray tones, with large dark scales creating impressive definition across the back. Scattered touches of orange-red beni peek through the darker coloration, adding just enough warmth to contrast with the smoky body.
The head is particularly striking, with irregular black and gray markings over a lighter ground that give this koi plenty of character when viewed from above. Dark fins and a deep gray tail complete the dramatic appearance.
Beni Kumonryu are also known for being changeable koi, particularly in their black coloration. Their appearance can continue to evolve with age, season, and environmental conditions, making them fascinating fish to watch develop.
At 12.5 inches, this koi already has substantial pond presence, and its unusual coloration makes it especially appealing for someone looking for something outside the traditional red-and-white koi palette.
